INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTANT

Shift: Monday-Friday, 7AM-4PM PHT

Arrangement: Full Time

About this role…

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to join our team. This role involves working with a diverse client base, managing a variety of accounting tasks, and supporting senior staff in delivering high-quality financial and tax solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Accounting Services

The position requires the ability to work unsupervised on the following Business Services and Tax

Compliance tasks:

• Preparation of tax returns for companies, trusts and individuals;

• Preparation of financial accounts for companies and trusts;

• Prepare and maintain adequate working papers that support assumptions made and opinions

given in accordance with firm procedures

• Perform bank reconciliations;

• Preparation of income tax and GST reconciliations;

• Preparation of Business Activity Statements;

• Identify and attend to all related tax matters for clients including but not limited to Division

7A, Fringe Benefits Tax and CGT

• Keep abreast of tax legislation changes

• Support Manager with client service administration, including service agreement preparation,

WIP & billing management

Resources and Planning

• Manage own time and progress against budget, deadlines, quality and compliance. Advise

manager of potential budget over-runs.

Accountability

• Ensure Productivity levels meet or exceed budget expectations (90%)

• Prepare and draft client bills

• Discuss recoverability of WIP with Manager and ensure WIP levels are managed

• Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with firm procedures

• Actively assist in firms debt collection

Administrative responsibilities

• Ensure timesheets are completed daily and accurately

Qualifications

• A bachelor of Business or Commerce degree with an Accounting major or similar

• Chartered Accounting Program (Preferred) or CPA program currently enrolled or completed

(or similar)

• 2yrs Australian public practice experience

The main technical requirements of the position are to be proficient in the use of:

• Xero and Xero Tax (Essential)

• MYOB, QuickBooks,

• MS Word and Excel

• MS Office suite

• Preparation of financial statements in Xero

• Working knowledge of the Australian Taxation Act as it relates to small business particularly

for individuals, trusts, companies and superannuation funds

Demonstrated sound understanding/basic knowledge of theory and practice in the following

technical competencies:

• General Accounting and Management

• Superannuation

• Tax Compliance

• Business Structuring
